"Follow, follow the sun
and which way the wind blows when this day is done. Breathe, breathe in the air, cherish this moment, cherish this breath. Tomorrow is a new day for everyone, brand new moon, brand new sun. When you feel life coming down on you, like a heavy weight. When you feel this crazy society, adding to the strain. Take a stroll to the nearest waters edge remember your place. Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came. So which way is the wind blowin', and what does your heart say?" Xavier Rudd

Roller disco... gotta love it! To celebrate my birthday late last year I travelled to Gawler to skate at the Recreation Centre with a dear friend on a Friday night. I had memories of going to Modbury Skateline in my teens, skating to Top 40 music and having a great time. I wanted to see if this activity would still delight at, ahem, 35 years old. It didn't disappoint. We hired our skates and did a lap or two. Unfortunately, my first pair of skates were straight out of the eighties and they reminded me of a wonky shopping trolley so I swapped them for another pair. It didn't take long to remember what to do and we were soon chatting and laughing, singing to the music and exercising under the lights of the disco ball :-) One of our concerns prior to arrival was whether we would be the only adults present. Yep, we were worried about looking out place and a bit gooby amongst the children and teenagers. Thankfully, our concerns were unfounded. There was plenty of adults there on a Friday night...many of them highly skilled (and fast!) doing their thing during the "Experienced Skaters Only!" session. There were others adults just having fun, many with their kids. If you love roller skating or roller disco, I highly recommend a trip to the Gawler Rec Centre. You can read about the cost and different skating sessions on the council website. I'll be back! I am often looking for delicious ways to use up home grown produce around here. This recipe is good for eggs and lemons.
Mmm, pancakes. I 1/3 cup Plain Flour 2 egg whites (or 1 egg) 1 3/4 cup Milk Butter for frying. Toppings Stand in the fridge for one hour (I don't think I have ever done this) Melt butter over a medium heat. Cook until lightly brown. Eat with your favourite toppings...we like lemon and sugar, golden syrup or maple syrup. |
