Popcorn in the microwave is a very easy and quick snack...plus making it from scratch means you know exactly what has gone into it. Here's how we do it. 1. Use a glass bowl with a lid. This is a Pyrex brand casserole dish that I've had for about 15 years. It is a winner. 2. Add popcorn kernels to the bottom of the bowl with a dob of butter. A bag of popcorn kernels costs about $1.50 and you will get at least 4 big bowls of cooked popcorn for that ....bargain. 3. Microwave for approximately 3 minutes, with the lid on. It'll be crazy hot when you take it out so be careful removing the lid. 4. Now add your favourite topping. Do you like it plain and healthy? Would you like to add some more butter and salt? What about icing sugar and salt for Sweet and Salty popcorn?
Enjoy! Hello, I'd like to give a huge welcome to new readers! It is exciting to learn that I am helping more and more people find what they are looking for, especially in regard to cooking tasty, nutritious, fast and EASY meals and snacks. Part of my role as a Mum is feeding my family and I freely admit that I do not love cooking. My list of other things I would rather do is long and varied. Nevertheless, it is a part of my day, every day, several times a day, especially while my kids are young, so it is a joy and a pleasure to find and share easy recipes and helpful appliances with you in the hope of helping you in your day too. So, time for another Thermochef update.... "The Machine', as we tend to call it, is going strong after 8 months and getting plenty of use, mostly for main meals. If you are considering purchasing one, I suggest having a think in regard to what you particularly need help with. For me, it was help with dinner for my family of four. If it is main meals you need help with then have a think about what you actually like to eat for dinner. We don't eat a lot of meat in our home, I was a vegetarian before I had kids, a whole other blog post which I will address one day, so we still eat a lot of vege burgers, soups, vege risottos etc which are FABULOUS in the Thermochef. I don't make a lot of sweet stuff ('cos then I have to eat it!) but I did make my first ever slice last month. This is the Energy Slice from the Thermostruck recipe book. Master 6 liked this one...lots of dates, peanut butter and cocoa. Mushroom soup from Thermochef International Recipe Cards. Not sure if I'll make this one again, although my good friend enjoyed it. It was very...mushroomy :-) Felafels...mmm, I love felafels. This recipe is from the Thermochef recipe cards, included with the machine. Thai Fish Cakes from International Recipe Cards. Delicious. Zucchini slice from the included recipe cards...really tasty. I love zucchini so I have experimented in the past with zucchini slice recipes but I've never found a keeper. I think the curry powder and bacon gave this one an extra kick. Lentil Patties, again, from the recipe cards that come with the Thermochef. A very tasty and more-ish little burger :-) xx
It's time for another skip down memory lane... This is my childhood teddy bear. I am aware that he looks about 100 years old and not his actual age; he is in his fresh, mid twenties :-) He was a gift from my grandparents at Christmas time, bought from the department store John Martins in Adelaide in the early nineties. His name is Marty Bear. He was and is very loved. This month, on our op shop visit, I discovered a very, special friend for dear Marty Bear. His twin brother. In mint condition. It made me glad to reminisce a little. Seeing MartyBear2 reminded me of my relationship with my late grandparents, there was a lot of love there. These sweet brothers have some catching up to do. xx ***UPDATE JAN 2020*** I went googling for more info on Marty Bears and I didn't find much. I did manage to find this Christmas advert for John Martin's on youtube though, featuring lots of Marty Bears...you might enjoy it too! |
