I've had a few enquiries for greeting cards and they have been on my list of things to organise for awhile. My first trial order of two designs arrived, with envelopes, and I am very pleased with them. I'll keep you posted :-) xo

Renovator's Delight : A home requiring love, time and energy to restore it to its former glory.
We have one of these beauties. It's actually our second one. House 1 we completed with minor repairs and a huge clean up & lived it in for 5 1/2 years. We then bought House 2 directly behind House 1! We did a few more minor repairs on House 1, subdivided a fair chunk of House 1's back yard onto House 2 and sold House 1. Moving house was a lot easier that it could have been...we managed with short car trips through the block and generous friends to share the load. Now, 4 1/2 years later, we have a beautifully partially completed home, a finished garden, lots of land in the middle of our town... and a strong desire to blinking well complete the job!! It is a beautiful character cottage....we have the love. With our two children now both school aged and willing & able to amuse themselves for longer periods...we have the time. The energy? The effort? Well, that seems to be the challenge :-) It is our major goal for 2016. Step by step, we'll complete our home and enjoy our beautiful space. This year! 2016! Did I say that already? :-) My first attempt at a large piece, 30cm x 30cm. I wanted to work fast but go with the flow, no room for perfection but still honor my desire to create something beautiful. I have placed it in an empty wall space in my lounge room for now, I love it, it makes me want to look closer.
However, I do think these large pieces are going to need more black to really pop for wall art. They already work so beautifully for small, intricate pieces. xo Then add some colour. I definitely need to practice more with watercolour. I need some fine brushes too, mine are all a bit too chunky. I'll keep trying :-) Gotcha! Our light gold fish is Orion. Leader of the pack. Fast. Impatient. Always zipping around and leaving the others in his wake. He's got somewhere to be and it's very important to get there! Shimmer is saying "Yeh, I can't keep up with him. He's kind of irritating." The bronze fish below, again with Shimmer, is Jewel. The kids call her Black Jewel but she is getting bronzer by the day. Jewel is an introverted soul and I have a soft spot for her. A couple of times a day I will find her on the bottom of the tank enjoying some quiet time, perhaps with her head slightly under a rock. I know how she feels. Jewel is also the only fish who 'sleeps' on the bottom of the tank, she lets the rocks take all her weight and really rests. I like her style. I am buggered. I am not exactly sure why but I just want to sleep...and complain. I'm pretty sure you don't read my blog to hear me complain so I'll reserve that for my loved ones and dearest friends, ha, and just share a few pictures today. Below is a doodle of my nature craving earlier in the week. Thankfully, I found some time to rest alone in nature and I will continue to make time for this vital practice for my own health and healing....meditation under trees, a walk on the beach, a lie on the lawn....whatever I need for grounding, peace and connection. A little experiment with watercolour and ink. This is Shimmer, our goldfish. Shimmer likes to be part of the group (of 4) but she would never admit it. She enjoys throwing a witty or sarcastic comment to the others when required, particularly Orion. This is Tiny Panther. He is gorgeous. He looks big here but he is not, he is sweet and placid and tiny. He is the baby of the crew and he knows his place. He doesn't bother jostling the other 3 for food on the surface of the water, he calmly swims to the bottom and catches the flakes floating down. I couldn't get a decent photo of the other two fish, I will try another day. Last but not least, this is our 4 1/2 year old cat, Sammie. He is beautiful. This photo was taken earlier this week before school. He is really sleepy and snuggly on the cold mornings. Don't mind his scraggly fluro and pink ribbon. He is a MASTER hunter of birds and the best thing I have found to protect them is to ensure Sammie wears some bright colour around his collar. The birds see the fluro yellow before they hear his bells or see him pounce. We only get the very odd casualty now compared to some atrocious statistics in the past and it's usually only when the ribbon has faded a little too much. You can read a study about cat's wearing bright colours to protect wildlife here. :-) Interestingly enough, mice apparently don't see the colours so he still gets to have fun with them, not that there are many at the moment. Hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend. My soundtrack is chilled covers from Tyler Ward. xo |
