Ducatoon Park, a leading South Australian thoroughbred breeding facility, is a fun and interesting place to stop by if you're visiting the Yorke Peninsula. I have lived here for just over 7 years and I've only recently visited for the first time so I'd like to do a shout-out for locals and visitors alike. Here is their website for a looksie...Ducatoon Park. I visited with some friends and our 4 little people and it was a really enjoyable morning out. We paid $10 per adult (Kids free) We learnt about their breeding program for race horses and enjoyed a relaxed tour of the farm which included a super friendly dog, several cats, a large bird aviary and of course plenty of horses. The kids had a ride on the quad bike, patted the horses and held tiny budgerigars. We had the place to ourselves (this might be different in school holidays) and apparently the best time to visit is around October when the new foals have been born.
Well worth a visit!

Get out of a pickle idea #2 Try tapping, otherwise known as Emotional Freedom Technique, based on modern psychology and eastern acupressure. If you're not familiar with it, please check out Judy from Harmonic Living. Sure, it feels a little funny the first time you do it but you'll never know if it's gonna be a great tool for you unless you try it! :-) xx A quick funny for you... This week we celebrated my son's 6th birthday. He wanted a volcano cake. Unfortunately the silicone cake pan I used collapsed during cooking so the end result looked like a red larvae watering hole. Do you ever find that your creations don't quite look like what you had in mind? :-) Check out this post on 20 Hilarious Pinterest Fails. It makes me feel better. xx Howdy! For those of you who have followed my little blog from the beginning, it will not be breaking news that I have some help in planning, enjoying and giving meaning to my life. If you're a newbie, welcome. Today I'm going to talk about pickles. More specifically I am going to talk about the fact that I am not afraid to ask for help when I get into one. Which I am pretty good at really. Tshirt from www.zazzle.com Sometimes I can work something out on my own with a little quiet time, reading or journalling. Other times I need to ask another person for their perspective, whether that be a friend, loved one, another parent or a professional. Different pickles = different people to turn to :-) So...In the next couple of weeks I am going to share some of the practices and people I turn to when I face a challenge.
Stay tuned! xx Home on the Ranch? Well, not quite but it feels a little like that lately. We have 3/4 of an acre here. I would like to pretend that I know about these things but I just googled that an acre is just over 4000 square metres :-) Last week we bought 5 chickens, beautiful 1 year old ladies, from a nearby free-range egg farm at Paskeville. Chickens-eye view below. There is something about trading my kitchen scraps (wow, so many kitchen scraps with a young family!) with these hens for fresh eggs that feels so good and right to me. I feel really happy when I think about our new family members. It's a really sweet exchange; a simple, down to earth pleasure. The kids and I excitedly put on our rubber boots each morning to feed them and say nice things to them and by lunch time we have 3 or 4 eggs. I've never owned chickens before, and I've had a lot of pets, so this is all new and fun for me. And yummy. The other thing I did last week was to plant some fresh herbs; parsley and coriander for starters. Since owning my Thermochef I have been buying a lot of fresh herbs and the price of these little bags soon add up. A lot of my friends grow their own so with their gardening experience to back me up, I took the plunge. I can't promise that I'll be able to keep them alive, the plants that is, not the chickens, but I'll try.
How is your week going? Do you have any fun little projects you would like to work on this week (or year?! I've been thinking and talking about getting chickens for a long time so please don't think it happened overnight!) Or do you actually need to forget the goals and plans, breathe deeply and BE instead of Do? Good night xxxx |
