This post is for all of my crafty mum friends, including the special one who organised this activity for a group of us. 1. Buy an end of roll from your local paper for a few dollars. (Me! Me! This was my contribution!). Lay it outside on a tarp or a few garbage bags under the verandah for easy clean up and (hopefully) minimal mess. 2. Gather your supplies. Paint (We used red, green, silver and gold), smocks or old clothes and some things to paint with. We experimented with brushes, sponges, potato stencils and cookie cutters. 3. Go for it! Kids AND adults. We had a little get together with four parents and four children. The kids had a go for about 5 minutes, wandered off to play, then later came back for another session. Ta dah! Metres of fun, original and bargain priced paper! Lots of Love xx

This cake is very moreish! I have used this recipe since I was a teenager, although I can't remember the original source. I use rice bran oil and I like to replace the walnuts with cashews for a bit of tasty crunch, though you can omit the nuts completely. In the past I've found the grating of the carrots a bit time consuming but not so now with the Thermochef ;-) Enjoy! "Carrot lovers" inspired by the Munch Bunch children's books from the early eighties.
Anne of Avonlea, by L.M Montgomery (Book 2/8)
"I'd like to add some beauty to life," said Anne dreamily. "I don't exactly want to make people know more...though I know that is the noblest ambition...but I'd love to make them have a pleasanter time because of me...to have some little joy or happy thought that would never have existed if I hadn't been born." "I think you're fulfilling that ambition every day." said Gilbert admiringly. And he was right. Anne was one of the children of light by birthright. After she had passed through a life with a smile or a word thrown across it like a gleam of sunshine the owner of that life saw it, for the time being at least, as hopeful and lovely and of good report. xx |
