It's back to musical basics here in my home. My two year old is learning the Suzuki method of music from the very talented and now local Jennifer Tingley (We're a bit lucky!) and I too am starting at the very beginning....think basic little tunes and nursery rhymes on the keyboard with two hands. When I first started playing I would need to tap my foot really loudly and awkwardly, louder than my playing, to be able to keep the beat. Thankfully now I can tap my foot softly while I play, hehe. Semibreves, crotchets, four beats to the bar...it's a new language. I've got a long way to go. I have a long way to go and I have a lot of life left to live so if it takes me awhile to learn to play the piano proficiently, so be it. I'm up for it. It's really fun! Here's a little clip about how my brain can grow while I learn..... :-) I was googling to find some success stories of late learners. Yay for new neuroscience to encourage me. http://superbrainmusic.com/2012/03/08/lessons-from-gary-marcus-guitar-zero/ This week I also heard that Louise Hay, one of my all time favourite authors, started ballroom dancing at aged 75 and has only recently started to learn piano at 86! Gotta love trying new things and being a lifelong learner. xx PS. I am using a children's theory book while I patiently wait for a high school one, it is really sweet and fun :-)

Hello! And a big welcome to new readers. Did you by any chance find me by by googling Thermochef?I know a few of you have. Thanks so much for popping by. I'm still really happy with my kitchen helper. You can read my original review here. I use it pretty much everyday for main meals and I am slowly working my way through the included recipe book as well Kim Coster's recipe book Thermostruck and 200 International Recipe cards. I have had one major flop...Spaghetti Bolognaise. The mince was chopped so finely during the cooking that it came out with a consistency of...hmmm, dirt? It was edible but definitely not something I will be cooking again! I have had many successes... Veggie and tofu rissoles. Play dough for the kids which I would usually make in the saucepan, it turned out well. They wanted to leave it white :-) Asian Inspired Carrot Soup Risotto with Sun-dried Tomato, parmesan, peas and ham. (Hi Mum, don't worry, I couldn't eat this one. The grief I gave you as a child about peas was real.) And Vegetable Risotto which is up there with my favourites, as well as pretty much anything I cook with red lentils. Wishing you a relaxed and fulfilling weekend
