We love frogs at our place. Love, love, love them! Since we have lived on the Yorke Peninsula (7 years this year!) we have often found little Spotted Marsh Frogs under our wooden railway sleepers or unused corrugated iron. They are gorgeous little critters. This Winter we went tadpoling in Kadina for the first time and caught 6 tadpoles. It was a fun morning. We also found our first frog of a different breed...scroll down to look at this big beauty! Buried under our newly layed gravel! The photo below shows the Man of The House's hands holding the container to give you some idea as to the size of the frog. And interestingly enough, my son had borrowed a frog field guide from the school library for the weekend! I love field guides and what perfect timing for us. He/she was so pretty; bright and beautiful. The book told us it was a Painted Frog and normally found lower on the Yorke Peninsula than where we live. We kept it for an hour or two and fell in love then we decided to let him free in a leafy, green area of the yard with plenty of hiding and digging places. Bye bye froggy, perhaps we'll come across you another day. x o

I'm still here but busy getting back into the school groove after a lovely Winter holiday in the Adelaide Hills. It was so satisfying; rich connections with loved ones, a trip to the museum, a beautiful home to house-sit, 4 resident koalas, a pot belly stove to master and plenty of crisp, fresh air and green grass. It was such a great holiday so I guess it made sense that I would feel some kind of negative feelings after it was all over, kind of like sadness or grief, a real come-down. And I definitely felt overdue for some time alone on my return. I decided to take myself out to the new Indian Restaurant, Indian Inn at the Cornwall Hotel, 20 Ryan St, Moonta for dinner, it was so DELICIOUS and peaceful. Wining and dining myself was a new experience and one that I will definitely do again when I need to nurture myself. I highly recommend the beautiful food there. They also have $10 lunch specials from Tues-Sunday, that is amazing value. Available from 12-2.30 pm....Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Beef Madras, all served with rice for $10! Til next time xx PS. Have you heard of Bloglovin.com? It is a really cool, visual site for subscribing to your favourite blogs. Get out of a Pickle idea #3! Winter School holidays are here which means plenty of time with the kids and slower mornings...plus a phonecall or two to the parent helpline, hehe. I love our SA helpline. Sometimes I get a nurse who has different ideas to what I might decide to use but often times I get a kind, experienced mum who cares and listens and offers suggestions to assist me through the challenge I'm facing. If the suggestion I am offered doesn't feel right, I can choose to look elsewhere. If it does feel right, I feel heard and understood (probably the most important thing really) and I have a little plan. If you prefer books or websites, you can't go past Bonnie Harris Connective Parenting. She's amazing. It is usually school holidays when I drag out my well read book 'When You're Children Push Your Buttons' to have another little read :-) You are not alone in your parenting challenges, ask for help if you need it. x x PS. We have a new treehouse courtesy of the Man of the House. I like sitting up there swinging my legs in the sunshine as much as the kids do. PPS. Also, does anyone know what this flower is? It popped up in my garden, along with a lot of winter weeds.
Just the one, so pretty. If you were a child in the 80's, I wonder, did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid? I did and I loved her very much. I remember choosing her in the toy shop, attracted to her yellow hair and matching yellow dress. I remember that her adoption certificate read "Dawn Cordelia" but I officially changed her name to "Samantha Dawn" and I was issued with a new birth certificate. I cried when my mum put her in the washing machine. I remember whispering to her to hold her breath. I was seven. I still have Samantha and I still have her birth certificate. And the envelope it came in. And her 1st Birthday Card that I received in the post. So this week when I spotted a very dirty, naked Cabbage Patch Kid (circa 1985) at the opshop, I knew he was for me. First up, he endured a good wash in the machine. I didn't whisper to him this time. I knew he'd be okay. Then I pulled out my collection of Cabbage Patch Doll clothes, many lovingly handknitted by my late Nanna, in anticipation. He came up just lovely. His name is Jared Owen. Awww, look at these new friends, I'm so happy for them!
